World News: Israel's Gaza Offensive
Israel-Gaza Conflict Speculation is rife that Israel will be adopting new tactics in its push against the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The Israelis have attacked Hamas targets by air, land and sea. The militants had fired more than 30 rockets across the border, according to Israel.
Gaza medical staff say more than 800 Palestinians have died in the two-week Israeli offensive. Israel suffered 13 dead, mostly troops.
There have been more protests in the Middle East and around the world about the continuing conflict in Gaza.
Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip in June 2007. The conflict erupted as a six-month truce between Israel and Hamas was called off by the militant group who started launching rockets across the border into Israel.

With each new paroxysm of hideous violence between Israelis and Palestinians, I become more convinced that the rest of the world will not put up with this insanity forever. At some point, supporters of each side will say, it’s just not worth it.
The arrogance and presumption of Israelis and Palestinians is that they believe they can do whatever they want and their supporters will not turn away from them. It never dawns on them that the world will get fed up with their act. Through their actions, Israelis and Palestinians show that they don’t care about the rest of the world. Why should the rest of the world care about them?
